The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, commented at a meeting of Parliament on the accident involving a truck that was transporting radioactive waste in Min-Kush village, Dzhumgal district, Naryn region.
The road accident occurred on June 1. A HOWO truck fell into a ravine near the river.
Akylbek Japarov denied the information that the truck was transporting radioactive waste.
«It was sealed transportation. The driver is to blame for the accident; the speed should not be changed when driving uphill. He changed. The truck did not transport uranium, but recycled waste. It was transported to a safe place,» he said.
Deputy Iskhak Masaliev asked about the results of the commission’s work.
«The commission is working; samples have been taken. When the results are ready, we will send them to you,» the head of the Cabinet responded and added that at present there is no danger for the people living there and the farmers.
He emphasized that the background radiation in Min-Kush is lower than in the Parliament.
