Border guards were detained for facilitating smuggling in Ala-Buka district. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
According to it, on the night of December 18, border guards passed smuggled cargo through Baymak-Avtodorozhny checkpoint outside working time. At that moment they were detained.
It was established that checkpoint servicemen regularly passed cargo this way.
«Thus, a stable smuggling channel was organized and actively functioning. Thus, military personnel of the Border Service actively contributed to the smuggling of goods at night for financial reward. At the same time, in order to conceal their criminal actions, they resorted to turning off the electricity supply throughout the entire territory of the facility to prevent recording of the video surveillance cameras specially installed at the checkpoint,» the state committee said.
In addition, these military personnel organized an illegal migration channel through the ford, bypassing the checkpoint.
«Eight servicemen of Baimak-Avtodorozhny checkpoint and five civilians involved in smuggling were detained. An investigation is underway,» the SCNS noted and added that they were deteined with the assistance of the management of the Border Service.
