Many Kyrgyzstanis convicted in Russia do not want to return to homeland

There is a large number of convicted Kyrgyzstanis in Russia, but «for some reason many of them do not want to return to their homeland and want to serve their sentence in the Russian Federation.» Foreign Affairs Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev announced at a press conference.

«We, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the courts, actively worked on the return of convicted Kyrgyzstanis. More than 100 citizens were transferred to the country,» he noted.

In addition, 11 minors who were left without parental care in Russia were returned to the Kyrgyz Republic.

Some 276 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were evacuated from Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Sudan and Trinidad and Tobago.

Jeenbek Kulubaev

According to him, 213 bodies of Kyrgyzstanis who died or were killed abroad were transported to the republic.

Assistance was provided to ethnic Kyrgyz living in Afghanistan. Humanitarian aid in the form of medicines and food was sent to them.
