Constriction of main irrigation canal continues in Kadamdzhai

The press service of the office of Presidential Envoy to Batken region told about the progress of construction of the main irrigation canal at Algakadam section in Kadamdzhai with an approximate cost of 2 billion soms.

According to the regional administration, as of today, work for 203.57 million soms has been done at the irrigation facility. The contribution of the local population to the implementation of the project amounts to 98 million soms.

The office of Presidential Envoy recalled that in March 50 million soms were allocated from the President’s Fund to Algakadam Public Foundation. In addition, 100 million soms were allocated from the republican budget for the construction of the irrigation facility in August and transferred to the Batken Region Development Fund. These funds were used to buy two excavators, two concrete trucks, a trailer, a crane and other equipment.

The head of the region, Abdikarim Alimbaev, noted the importance of construction of the strategic facility and emphasized that the state will continue to provide support in the future.

The length of the main canal is 24.9 kilometers. It includes three tunnels 6.5 kilometers long. To date, 741 meters of tunnel have been dug.

The construction of the canal will provide 4,200 hectares of land with irrigation water.

Construction of the main canal at Algakadam section in Kadamdzhai began in April 2022.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, estimated the total cost of the project at 2.9 billion soms. «Half of the project will be financed by the state, and the other half by entrepreneurs. We are ready to provide government support to promising initiatives and projects in the regions,» he said.
