President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the Managing Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Woochong Um within the framework of the High Level Week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, held in New York (USA). Press service of the head of state reported.
The sides exchanged views on priority areas of project and programme cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and ADB, including the new partnership strategy for the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023-2027.
The President noted that ADB is a reliable partner of Kyrgyzstan, with the support of which important projects in all major areas of development have been implemented in the country for many years. He also emphasized that to date the bank is the largest foreign donor in terms of official financial assistance.
Sadyr Japarov invited the bank to finance the construction of Kambar-Ata 1 HPP and China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railroad.
In turn, Woochong Um said that the Kyrgyz Republic is an important partner for the bank, and confirmed the readiness of the organization to expand and strengthen cooperation in the implementation of large-scale strategic projects, including in the energy sector. He focused on the good economic performance of Kyrgyzstan last year and noted the importance of transition to large projects of strategic importance and the readiness of the organization to participate in them.
