Construction of Kambarata HPP 1: Kyrgyzstan invites investors

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev held a regular meeting of the organizing committee to study proposals from potential investors for the construction, commissioning and operation of Kambarata HPP 1. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

To speed up the implementation of Kambarata HPP 1 construction project, Directorate of Power Plants JSC proposed to assign the project a national status. It was also noted that work is currently underway on the 318th kilometer of the Bishkek — Osh highway, bypassing Kambarata HPP 1, on construction of an access road, a transport tunnel, high-voltage transmission lines, as well as a bridge and a temporary camp for construction workers.

Bakyt Torobaev called on representatives of government agencies to attract potential investors for the construction of Kambarata HPP 1.

Representatives of the Ministry of Finance told about negotiations with a number of financial institutions, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Bank of Korea. It was proposed to hold an extended meeting with the participation of the president of the country, where the hydroelectric power station construction project would be presented to all interested parties and financial institutions.

It should be noted that Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed a road map for the construction of Kambarata HPP 1. Its total capacity will be 1,860 megawatts. It is expected to generate 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
