Four large irrigation canals to be restored in Kyrgyzstan

As part of the project «Increasing the resilience of water resources of the Kyrgyz Republic to climate change and natural disasters,» the Water Resources Service is carrying out rehabilitation work on four large irrigation canals in the country. Project Director Nurlan Nabiev told about this at a round table.

The canals are located in Chui, Batken, Osh and Jalal-Abad regions.

«Due to the deterioration of irrigation resources, 50 percent of water is lost during transportation through these canals, but we will restore them,» Nurlan Nabiev added.

The project was launched with the help of the Asian Development Bank. $43.6 million was allocated.
