Ombudsperson of Kyrgyzstan Jamilya Jamanbayeva calls on the Ministry of Health to ensure that the rights and interests of citizens living with HIV and hepatitis are respected. Press service of the Institute of Ombudsman reported.
Representatives of Country Network of Women Living with HIV and Fight against Hepatitis NGOs applied to the Ombudsperson. They did not agree with the position of the Ministry of Health on merging the Republican Center for Viral Hepatitis and HIV Control with the National Institute of Public Health.
The activists reported that they had repeatedly appealed to the relevant department with a request not to unite these institutions, as this could lead to a violation of the rights of citizens living with HIV and hepatitis. According to them these institutions cannot work together.
The Ombudsman’s Institute sent an official request to the Ministry of Health.
The Deputy Minister of Health in his response explained that the decision to merge the Republican Center for Viral Hepatitis and HIV Control with the National Institute of Public Health was made in accordance with the program of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Jamilya Dzhamanbayeva appealed to the leadership of the ministry.
