President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the Ambassador of Iran to Kyrgyzstan Gholamhossein Yadegari.
The new head of the diplomatic mission presented his credentials. The parties exchanged views on topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
Sadyr Japarov noted that relations between Kyrgyzstan and Iran were developing on the basis of friendship and trust.
The Kyrgyz side supports the strengthening of political dialogue and bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
The President stressed that Kyrgyzstan was interested in cooperation with Iran with an emphasis on trade, economic and investment areas, highlighting the significant role of the Kyrgyz-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission in this. The head of state proposed to hold its next meeting this year in Bishkek.
The President congratulated the Ambassador on Iran’s obtaining the status of a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Sadyr Japarov noted that Iran would contribute to strengthening friendship and partnership between the member countries of the organization.
Speaking about cooperation in the field of culture and education, Sadyr Japarov noted that the Kyrgyz side attached great importance to the development of cultural, humanitarian, scientific and technical cooperation. In this regard, the president suggested initiating days of culture, scientific conferences, historical and cultural exhibitions, festivals, as well as expanding direct ties between scientific circles.
The Iranian diplomat thanked for the support of Kyrgyzstan in becoming a full member of the SCO and noted readiness of the Iranian side to promote partnership with the Kyrgyz side within the organization.
The ambassador stressed that the Iranian side was interested in deepening economic cooperation, noting that its potential has not yet been fully disclosed. Iran has chosen such priority areas of Kyrgyzstan — Iran cooperation as the import and export of agricultural products, cooperation in the field of transport, new technologies, tourism, mining, fuel and energy resources and other sectors of the economy.
In conclusion, the parties noted mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in all priority areas.
