«Promotion of the railway construction project is a strategically balanced and important move for Kyrgyzstan,» Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission, said at the round table «Development of transport corridors as a strategic direction for realizing the trade and transit potential of the EAEU member states.»
According to him, in the current conditions of the lack of a developed railway infrastructure, given the dead-end situation of railways and communications in the republic, China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway construction project will provide the domestic economy with new alternative routes to the markets of other countries. The economy will get out of the transport impasse by diversifying the ways of transporting goods.
«The heads of governments of the EAEU member states have approved a list of priority integration infrastructure transport projects. A project for the electrification of Lugovaya — Balykchy railway section was included there by the Kyrgyz Republic. Two more projects are in the process of inclusion, one of which is of great strategic importance. This is Balykchy — Kochkor — Kara-Keche — Makmal — Jalal-Abad railway for the country. A decision on this project will be made in July,» Arzybek Kozhoshev said.
He noted that support for infrastructure projects aimed at getting the republic out of partial transport isolation is considered a priority. «Given the current conditions, it is important to unite the regions by rail, which will serve as an additional incentive for economic development, increased business activity and trade within Kyrgyzstan,» the EEC Minister concluded.
