Number of provided microcredits increases by quarter in 2023

Microcredit organizations provided loans for 11 billion soms in the first quarter of 2023. The National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan provided such data.

The number of recipients reached more than 192,000 people. Compared to the corresponding period last year, the number of people covered by microlending increased by almost 27 percent, and the volume of provided microcredits — by 25 percent.

Most of the microcredits were provided in Osh (21 percent of the total number of recipients) and Jalal-Abad (about 17 percent) regions, as well as in Bishkek (about 16 percent).

The largest amounts of microcredits were provided to recipients in the capital (2 billion soms, or 18 percent of the total volume of microcredits), Osh (about 2 billion soms, or about 18 percent), Chui (1.8 billion soms, or about 16 percent) and Jalal- Abad (1.7 billion soms, or about 16 percent) regions.

Of the total volume of microcredits, 45 percent were taken for consumer needs, more than 27 percent were directed to the development of activities in agriculture. The share of microcredits provided for trade and public catering was about 12 percent, for construction — 4 percent.
