The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced Kuban Azhimudinov, the founder of Aknet company, to seven years in prison. The court confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
The decision on the case was made on April 4. But, as the Bishkek City Court clarified, they did not receive an appeal against the decision of the district court.
According to the court decision, Kuban Azhimudinov was found not guilty under Articles 233 «Violation of restrictions established by the legislation on joint-stock companies», 253 «Illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition» and 359 «Forgery of documents» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (Edition of 2017) and acquitted due to absence of the event of the aforementioned crimes in his actions.
The founder of Aknet was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 205 (misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, as amended in 2017. He was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of seven years.
He was also found guilty of tax evasion and complicity in abuse of office, but no punishment was imposed on him due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal liability.
Kuban Azhimudinov was taken into custody in the courtroom.
Aknet Internet provider drew attention of the State Service for Combatting Economic Crimes at the end of November 2018. The reason for the proceedings was an appeal of one of the co-founders of the company. He accused the partners of understating revenue, withdrawal of money from the LLC, conclusion of fictitious contracts and other offenses. A new team of top managers is currently working at the company.
In April 2021, Kuban Azhimudinov was first placed under house arrest, and then again returned to pretrial detention center 1 in Bishkek.
