EBRD to provide Kyrgyz Temir Zholu with €11 million for purchase of wagons

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide Kyrgyz Temir Zholu with €11 million. Deputy Minister of Transport Akunaly Dosaliev announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on transport, communications, architecture and construction.

The deputies considered ratification of the loan agreement and provision of an investment grant between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD on a project to improve the climate resilience of the infrastructure of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state enterprise.

According to Akunaly Dosaliev, the project amount is €12 million, of which €8 million is a loan, €3 million is a grant, and €1 million is an investment by Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state enterprise. The loan is taken at 1 percent with Euribor floating rate for 12 years with a two-year grace period.

The funds will be used for the purchase of 70 wagons and rails, construction of anti-landslide structures on a 150-meter section in Boom gorge, and for strengthening of the railway.
