Alexey Overchuk: Kyrgyzstan is our strategic partner in Central Asia

«Kyrgyzstan is our strategic partner and ally in Central Asia,» Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk said at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Wednesday.

According to him, cooperation between the two countries is multifaceted and has a common focus on the development of Eurasian integration processes. That is why economic ties play a special role. There is a solid growth dynamic in trade turnover.

«Our trade growth last year reached a historical record. It is accompanied by the strengthening of the role of the national currency. In fact, we carry out 70 percent of transactions in the national currency. This is also very important. It makes our relations stable and strong,» said Alexey Overchuk.

He also stressed that Russia constantly supports the development of Kyrgyzstan. Measures were successfully taken to implement the agreement on the provision of gratuitous assistance in 2021-2023 for the development of the tax administration system.

«This project has really had a serious effect on the state budget. We intend to continue our support in the tax area. We also discussed the issue of support in the cadastral area. We will work on this part. Russian companies are also considering the possibility of participating and implementing transport infrastructure development projects in Kyrgyzstan. As for information and communication technologies, the Russian Federation is ready to offer the Kyrgyz Republic its own software in the field of digital transformation. In particular, these are advanced solutions in the field of digitalization of the urban environment, public administration, digital education, training of staff for the IT sector and ensuring information security,» Alexey Overchuk concluded.
