Kyrgyzstan offers Russia to create more joint ventures

«As promising areas, we see the need to increase interaction through the creation of joint ventures,» Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, said at a meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Wednesday.

According to him, the trade and economic relations between the two countries have positive dynamics. The volume of mutual trade is growing every year. Thus, the volume of bilateral trade increased by 40.8 percent to $3,234 billion last year.

«I consider it important not to stop there. The potential of our cooperation is far from exhausted. We must create favorable conditions for the development of trade, economic and investment relations, as well as for strengthening interregional partnership between the regions and subjects of the two states,» Akylbek Japarov said.

He also stressed that Russia is attractive to Kyrgyzstan in terms of supplies of industrial goods, fuel and energy resources, medical, pharmaceutical and chemical products, timber, machinery and equipment, veterinary drugs, new technologies. The Kyrgyz Republic proposes to create joint ventures in the field of light and food industries, processing of agricultural products, as well as the implementation of projects for the construction of small, medium and large hydroelectric power plants.

«I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the republic has rich natural resources and significant opportunities for creation of joint production chains based on the use of local raw materials. It is important for us to intensify work in this direction, to continue creation of joint ventures that have import-substituting capabilities to produce goods for export, and to work out a list of priority cooperation projects,» the head of the Cabinet concluded.
