The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek continues to consider the criminal case on June 2010 events. During the hearing, ex-head of the State Committee for National Security Tokon Mamytov was interrogated as a witness.
He said that in September 2010 he was a member of Parliament and headed a commission to study the causes of the June events.
«The commission included 25 deputies from five factions. Each deputy had his own opinion, but in the end 22 people came to a consensus and signed a protocol. This document was submitted for discussion by the chamber, after discussion, the Parliament adopted a resolution. In the course of their work, members of the commission met with relatives of the killed and injured during the June 2010 events in the south. We also met with the governor of Jalal-Abad region Bektur Asanov,» Tokon Mamytov told.
Answering the question whether Bektur Asanov met with the leader of the Uzbek diaspora, the witness said that in 2010 he asked him this question. Then Asanov replied that he, as a governor, was obliged to meet with everyone who asked for a meeting.
In addition, according to Tokon Mamytov, members of the commission did not receive information how and at what time Kadyrzhan Batyrov crossed the border and left Kyrgyzstan.
«During the work of the commission, we asked Almazbek Atambayev about those events, he said that at that time he was busy with the northern region of the republic. Then events took place in Maevka village,» Tokon Mamytov said.
According to the witness, Almazbek Atambayev confirmed that he did meet with Kadyrzhan Batyrov. The latter raised the issue of creating a national party. Atambayev, however, opposed such a proposal, as it could lead to bad consequences.
The criminal investigation into the June events was resumed in April 2021. The investigation is underway under the article «Abuse of official position» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The case was initiated against officials of the interim government on the fact of facilitating the unhindered illegal departure of Kadyrzhan Batyrov from the country, which was one of the reasons that led to tragic consequences in May-June 2010 in the south of the republic.
