Russian airlines resume direct flights to Issyk-Kul

Russian airlines resume direct flights to Issyk-Kul. The Association of Tour Operators of the Russian Federation reported.

According to it, in the tourist season of 2023, two Russian airlines will again launch direct flights from Moscow to Issyk-Kul lake. Aeroflot and Ural Airlines announced launch of direct flight programs from Moscow to Tamchy (Issyk-Kul) in the summer schedule.

Compared to the last summer season, the number of flights will increase and they will start earlier: not in June, but in late April — early May. Aeroflot will open flights to Tamchy on May 2 and will operate four flights a week (a year ago it was twice a week), and Ural Airlines will operate flights daily from Domodedovo from April 27. The flight from Moscow will take about 4.5-5 hours.

Compared to last year, tariffs have increased by 20-25 percent.

«Direct flights to Issyk-Kul were in high demand last year, this year there are already tourists who are waiting for direct flights. A promotional tour to Issyk-Kul is planned in May, and judging by how quickly it was booked, we conclude that the direction will be in demand this year as well,» Russian Express company said.

According to tour operators, mainly tourists of 40 and above age category traveled to Issyk-Kul. There were also applications from families with children of different ages, as well as from active tourists who booked sightseeing or combined tours to the lake.

Sergei Romashkin, vice president of the Association of Tour Operators of the Russian Federation, believes that tours to Issyk-Kul will be in stable demand this season as well. Nevertheless, as the expert notes, the audience of this direction is somewhat limited.

«These are mostly either natives of Kyrgyzstan, or those Russians who have been to this country before and already understand what you can do on Issyk-Kul and in its environs. In other words, these are mostly tourists who are «in the know,» but there are relatively few of them,» he said.
