Acceptance of documents from compatriots who have a foreign passport for obtaining Meken-card started in Kyrgyzstan on March 13. Press service of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration reported.
Meken-card reportedly provides unimpeded entry and stay in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, access to education and healthcare services, the possibility of working without permits, and much more.
«The process of obtaining the status of a compatriot is quite simple and accessible for foreign citizens — former citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, their children and grandchildren.
On the territory of Kyrgyzstan, it is necessary to apply to the Public Service Centers and pay the state fee — 10,000 soms, as well as the costs of receiving, processing, issuing and personifying Meken-card — 1,315 soms. If the applicant is abroad, he or she can submit the necessary documents at the foreign office of the Kyrgyz Republic and pay 10,618 soms and $40 as consular fees,» the ministry said.
The term for consideration of applications is about three months under the general procedure and one and a half months — under the simplified one.
«Foreign citizens have the right to apply under the simplified procedure, if no more than six months have passed since the moment of renunciation of citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the Ministry of Labor added.
