The wife of the former external manager of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC, Ilmira Alpysbaeva, wrote on Facebook that her husband Tengiz Bolturuk is being pressured, and she herself receives threats.
According to her, Tengiz Bolturuk is ready to take a lie-detector test. «Now they are putting pressure on others to testify against my husband. He has apnea, 34 breath stops per night. He had such a problem before, but under stress it got worse. My husband had swelling on his right wrist. He was kept in handcuffs in a locked room in the prosecutor’s office for several hours so that he would admit his guilt, confess to what he had not done. This is what I know. She suggests that the defendant may be tortured or poisoned, and added that Tengiz Bolturuk is a specialist with a Canadian professional engineer’s license. He is not a politician and not an oppositionist.
Earlier, Tengiz Bolturuk himself, in his appeal to Sadyr Japarov, asked for forgiveness for not meeting his expectations and failing to put an end to corruption at Kumtor.
Tengiz Bolturuk and Ryspek Toktogulov were dismissed from all the positions they held. It was reported that the Prosecutor General’s Office began a detailed check. It resulted in three criminal cases with preliminary damage to the state of 1 billion soms. As a result, the former external manager of Kumtor was detained and placed in the remand center of the State Committee for National Security until March 10, 2023. Tengiz Bolturuk himself does not admit his guilt. He stated that all the accusations were false. His lawyer says that the accused is ready to cooperate with the investigation.
