Tengiz Bolturuk admits that he failed to put an end to corruption at Kumtor

The former external manager of the Kumtor Gold Company, Tengiz Bolturuk, addressed a letter to the President Sadyr Japarov. Lawyer Kaisyn Abakirov posted its text on Facebook.

In the letter to the head of state, Tengiz Bolturuk asks for forgiveness for not justifying the hopes and obligations set before him.

«Working 75-80 hours a week, I was unable to keep track of the work of companies and their employees, I failed to eliminate the corruption that had formed at Kumtor over the course of 20 years. This is a big lesson for me, but I gave you my word and did not participate in these schemes, did not take bribes. You are my hope for a fair decision. If you still believe me, I am ready to assist. I can do a lot of good things. If I bother someone from the government, I am ready to go to Canada. Everything is in your hands and the hands of the Lord now. I hope you will make the right decision,» Tengiz Bolturuk wrote.

Tengiz Bolturuk and Ryspek Toktogulov were dismissed from all the positions they held. It was reported that the Prosecutor General’s Office began a detailed check. It resulted in three criminal cases with preliminary damage to the state of 1 billion soms. As a result, the former external manager of Kumtor was detained and placed in the remand center of the State Committee for National Security until March 10, 2023. Tengiz Bolturuk himself does not admit his guilt. He stated that all the accusations were false. His lawyer says that the accused is ready to cooperate with the investigation.
