Former external manager of Kumtor Tengiz Bolturuk sentenced

The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek passed a verdict against the former temporary external manager of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC Tengiz Bolturuk. The session was chaired by the judge Ilyazbek Tazhibaev.

The court found Tengiz Bolturuk guilty on 17 counts and, by partial addition of sentences, sentenced him to a fine of 800,000 soms. After the verdict comes into force, the preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the country will be canceled, as well as the accounts of Tengiz Bolturuk will be unblocked.

The judge ruled to transfer 10 million soms paid earlier as compensation for damages to Kumtor Gold Company.

After the verdict was announced, Tengiz Bolturuk did not answer journalists’ questions.

Earlier it was reported about financial violations detected at Kumtor, in particular about fuels and lubricants, food products, and spare parts purchased at market prices. The Prosecutor General’s Office opened three criminal cases. Former external manager of Kumtor Tengiz Bolturuk, supply specialist Aisha-Gul Frontbek kyzy Dzhanalieva and Financial Director Ryspek Toktogulov were detained.

Tengiz Bolturuk and Ryspek Toktogulov were dismissed from all the positions they held. It was reported that the Prosecutor General’s Office began a detailed check. It resulted in three criminal cases with preliminary damage to the state of 1 billion soms. As a result, the former external manager of Kumtor was detained. Tengiz Bolturuk himself does not admit his guilt. He stated that all the accusations were false. Tengiz Bolturuk and other defendants in the criminal case on corruption paid 844,512,858 soms.
