Sadyr Japarov tells about meeting with ex-presidents in Dubai

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, in an interview with Kabar state news agency, told in more detail about his meeting with the former heads of Kyrgyzstan, held in Dubai.

According to him, before gathering all the former presidents at one table, a separate meeting was organized between Sooronbai Jeenbekov and Almazbek Atambayev.

«We invited Sooronbai Sharipovich and Almazbek Sharshenovich to the same table and reconciled. They reconciled and parted, forgiving each other. After that, all the former leaders of the country met. Of course, we talked with each separately before the meeting and agreed to see each other in Dubai. We didn’t tell them that there would be a meeting of ex-presidents. This is true. If we did, some would not have come. But we can’t hide information. Everything is open in Kyrgyzstan. Those who learned that a meeting of the former presidents was planned were among them, but everyone came,» Sadyr Japarov said.

He noted that there is a habit of spreading lies among Kyrgyz politicians.

«I started the meeting with a question: «Unfortunately, people quickly believe in rumors. For 13 years, false information has been spread about me that I want to carry out a revolution at the expense of money of Kurmanbek Bakiyev, or that I took $10 million from Sooronbai Jeenbekov. Therefore, they say, I depend on you. We are in the holy place where the prophet was. Tell me openly, did I take at least one tyiyn from any of you?» They answered: «No,» the head of state stressed.

In short, I said: «I have neither financial nor political debts, nor obligations to those who are sitting here. Nobody has anything to do with the fact that I became president. I owe only to God and the people. I was supported by God and the common people and brought to power. Therefore, get rid of the thoughts that I owe someone from those present.

According to him, «the reason that I gathered you is one — to call for unity.»

«If the leaders are not united, then it is difficult to unite others. So call your supporters to unity. To be honest, I do not need the support of your supporters. Eighty percent of the support of the people will be enough for me until the end of my term. But the remaining 20 percent are divided into one or another. Let’s all be Kyrgyz. As you can see, the situation in the world is complicated. Kyrgyzstan is just getting back on its feet. Last year there were advances in the economy. This year will be better. The next one is even better. We started the project of the century related to the railway, the construction of a large hydroelectric power station,» the head of state said.

Sadyr Japarov told that Askar Akayev spoke after him. «Then others took the floor and supported my initiative of unity and friendship. The meeting lasted about four hours and then we dispersed,» he added.

Recall, Sadyr Japarov announced a meeting of all the former heads of Kyrgyzstan on February 18. Former MP Ryskeldi Mombekov wrote that the meeting was held in the United Arab Emirates.

Later, Almazbek Atambayev publicly commented on the meeting.

«Yes, meeting of the ex-presidents has taken place. Yes, I attended it. However, I was not informed that any of the ex-presidents would be there. I was told that I was invited to a meeting with the head of state Sadyr Japarov and Kamchybek Tashiev (Chairman of the State Committee for National Security. — Note of 24.kg news agency), so that we could talk on an equal footing, like free people, and forget old grievances. I remember kindness and therefore could not refuse, I even canceled a pre-planned meeting with the Spanish Ambassador. As you know, the Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez invited me to undergo treatment, many thanks to him for that,» he wrote.

Ex-head of state Askar Akayev also commented on it. «Personally, I supported this initiative and called on my colleagues to agreement and support for the sake of a prosperous future of Kyrgyzstan and strengthening stability in society,» he said.
