68 percent of girls vaccinated against papillomavirus in Kyrgyzstan

At least 163,800 adolescent girls, or 68 percent of the target group, were vaccinated against the human papillomavirus (HPV). The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Vaccination of 11-14-year-old girls against HPV began according to the preventive vaccination schedule from November 14.

In total, it is planned to cover at least 90 percent of adolescents in the target group (about 228,000 people). The vaccine is administered twice with an interval of six months. According to doctors, vaccination will prevent more than 600 cases and about 300 deaths from cervical cancer annually in the future.
