Wife of fugitive president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev dies

Nazgul Tolomushova, wife of the fugitive president of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev, passed away. The relatives confirmed the information.

It is reported that Nazgul Tolomushova was 47 years old. Azattyk also found out that she died in Minsk due to illness. Her relatives are organizing her funeral in Kazarman village, Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan. It is unknown whether Kurmanbek Bakiyev will participate in the funeral.

According to Nazgul Tolomushova’s relatives, her body has already been delivered to Kyrgyzstan.

Nazgul Tolomushova is the second wife of Kurmanbek Bakiyev. In 2010, after the April events, she fled to Belarus together with him.

It was reported in 2016 that Nazgul Tolomushova was appointed a director of Hotel Minsk enterprise, which officially belongs to the administration of the President of Belarus. A year after fleeing Kyrgyzstan with Bakiyev, Tolomushova told Ayat newspaper that she had been living with Kurmanbek Bakiyev since 1995, and that they had two children.

In Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev was sentenced in absentia to 30 years in prison, his younger brother, former head of the State Security Service Janysh Bakiyev, to life imprisonment, and his son Marat to 30 years in prison. The younger son, Maxim Bakiyev, was charged with a number of crimes and was also sentenced to life imprisonment.
