Anecdotes about Hodja Nasreddin were included in the UNESCO Representative List. The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan reported.
According to it, the full name of the nomination is Telling tradition of Nasreddin Hodja/ Molla Nesreddin/ Molla Ependi/ Apendi/ Afendi Kozhanasyr Anecdotes. It was presented jointly by several countries — Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Anecdotes about the philosopher and sage Nasreddin are distinguished by wisdom, witty remarks, they perform an instructive and entertaining function, many of them have become classics, a source for idioms and proverbs, UNESCO noted.
