President Sadyr Japarov got acquainted with the construction of Balykchy — Kochkor — Kara-Keche railway. Press service of the President reported.

General Director of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state enterprise, Azamat Sakiyev, informed Sadyr Japarov about the work on the construction of Balykchy — Kochkor railway section.

By the end of the year, it is planned to complete laying of five kilometers of tracks. To date, the work has been 85 percent complete — ground has been prepared on a 4.5-kilometer section, rails 3.7 kilometers long have been laid. Negotiations are underway to attract foreign investment.

The head of state instructed not to slow down and comply with the required quality standards.

He also inspected an enterprise for the production of railway sleepers, which is being prepared for launch, located in Kemin district of Chui region. In November, it is planned to complete the installation of the necessary equipment, and to begin the production of sleepers in December. The expected production capacity is 6,000-8,000 pieces of sleepers per month. The company’s products will cover the needs of the domestic market, including the construction of Balykchy — Kochkor — Kara-Keche railway.

Previously, during the repair of railway tracks, materials were brought from abroad, now it will be possible to use domestic-made sleepers. This, in turn, will lead to reduction of prices. The company plans to enter the foreign market, export products to third countries.

Sadyr Japarov recalled the great importance of the implementation of the national project for the construction of Balykchy — Kochkor — Kara-Keche railway, which is of great social and economic importance for the entire republic. The railway route will connect the northern and southern parts of the country through the further laying of the railway to Jalal-Abad region.

In the future, it is planned to connect the railway along the route Balykchy — Kochkor — Kara-Keche with the planned China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway.

Construction of this railway creates the least expensive way of transporting coal from Kara-Keche deposit, which provides the population of the regions and the Bishkek Heating and Power Plant with fuel during the autumn-winter heating period.

This is the first construction of railways in Kyrgyzstan over the years of independence.
