The Saudi Fund for Development finances multi-million dollar projects in the Kyrgyz Republic. Ambassador of the Kingdom to the Kyrgyz Republic Ibrahim bin Radi Al-Radi said at a briefing «Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia: Partnership for Development».
According to him, since Kyrgyzstan gained independence, the government of Saudi Arabia has been supporting development programs implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic through the Saudi Fund for Development. This list includes road construction, assistance in the healthcare sector and education.
The head of the diplomatic mission told about the largest completed and ongoing projects. Taraz — Talas road, the Center for the Study of Saudi Arabia at the National Library, a mosque in the building of the Parliament, and the repair of a children’s hospital in Bishkek are among them.
The Ambassador recalled the $500,000 humanitarian aid to mitigate the effects of the pandemic and launch of five mobile medical clinics, trailers and ambulances under the Fael Al Khair program in 2021.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was one of the first to recognize the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic on December 30, 1991. Since then, bilateral relations have only improved and have become strategic in nature.
Saudi Arabia is interested in investments in the construction of hydroelectric power stations and other large projects.
The number of tourists from the Kingdom is increasing every year. Agricultural producers from Kyrgyzstan export their products to Saudi Arabia.
