Ex-Deputy Interior Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kursan Asanov, accused of abuse of office, pleads not guilty. Attorney Chynara Dzhakupbekova told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, the court proceeded to the interrogation of the defendant. Kursan Asanov pleaded not guilty to any of the counts imputed to him.
«My client was interrogated on the episode that concerns Zhenish Razakov. He told the court that he had no hostile attitude to the former deputy prime minister. Kursan Asanov noted that he did not give any information about him to the media,» the attorney said.
Kursan Asanov was removed from his post on August 13, 2019 «for betraying the interests of the Kyrgyz police and loss of confidence.» Later, the Military Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case on the fact of abuse of office. The driver of ex-Deputy Minister Damirbek Paizylda uulu was detained. He was accused of complicity in the abuse of office.
