Transport Ministry sets new tolls for travel through tunnels on Bishkek-Osh road

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan proposes to approve a new payment procedure and tolls for the passage of vehicles through tunnels on Bishkek — Osh road. The Ministry of Transport and Communications submitted the corresponding draft resolution for public discussion.

It is noted that payment is necessary for the maintenance and operation of tunnels on Bishkek — Osh road. The toll will be different for domestic and foreign cars:

  • Passenger cars with Kyrgyz number plates — 50 soms, with foreign ones — $5;
  • Minibuses or trucks with acarrying capacity of up to 3 tons — 100 soms (with Kyrgyz number plates) and $10 (with foreign ones);
  • Buses with up to 22 seats and trucks with carrying capacity of up to 3 tons — 150 soms ($20);
  • Buses with 22 — 32 seats and trucks with carrying capacity of up to 10 tons — 300 soms ($40);
  • Buses with over 32 seats and cargo vehicles with carrying capacity of up to 25 tons — 350 soms ($60);
  • Cargo vehicles with carrying capacity of more than 25 tons — 400 soms ($80).

It is also proposed to make a discount for cars of residents of Sosnovka, Kaiyrma, Bokso-Zhol, Bekitai, Monoldor, Sary-Bulak and Kyzyl-Dyikan villages of Zhaiyl district, Chui region, as well as Tunuk, Suusamyr, Pervomaiskoye, Kozhomkul and Kyzyl-Oi villages in Suusamyr valley and Kara-Kul village in Jalal-Abad region. At the same time, their owners must have documents for a vehicle registered at their place of residence.

It is proposed to exempt ambulances, cars of ministries, departments and the National Bank (upon presentation of registration documents for the vehicle), the Kyrgyz Society of the Blind and Deaf and the National Red Crescent Society from paying the toll. In addition, it will be possible not to pay for the passage of cars carrying humanitarian aid under the relevant documents, agricultural products, road workers and diplomats.
