The Institute of Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan is preparing an alternative report on the situation with violence against women and children. Atyr Abdrakhmatova told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, the report will reflect data on the protection of the rights of women and children who have been subjected to violence.
«The statistics are alarming. Most cases are dismissed at the investigation stage. Those that make it to court don’t always end in convictions. In the report, we will analyze sentences related to crimes against women and children. It turns out that the person who stole a bicycle will get the maximum prison term, and the one who committed violence against women or children will get the minimum punishment,» Atyr Abdrakhmatova said.
The report will be sent to the UN.
