Almaty Prosecutor’s Office detected a website, where ads for the sale of children were published, the Prosecutor’s Office reported.
According to its data, women who wanted to get rid of babies tried to sell them via the Internet. There were also numerous ads from those who wanted to buy babies.
The Prosecutor’s Office stressed that such activities are prohibited by law. Found or abandoned child must be registered by the employees of internal affairs, child protection services or management of an organization, in which he or she is placed. An application must be filed no later than seven days from the date of discovery or abandonment.
According to the law on the media, information resources cannot be used for criminal and administrative offenses.
The prosecutor of Alatau district appealed to the court. The website was found illegal, and its activity on the territory of Kazakhstan was suspended.
The case materials were sent to law enforcement authorities. The police will conduct a check for the crime under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan «Human Trafficking». The sellers of babies could face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
