South Korea becomes seventh nation in world to launch space vehicle

South Korea has become the seventh nation in the world capable of launching space vehicle. The country for the first time managed to send satellites into space on a rocket of its own design. Tengrinews.kz reports.

On June 21, a 200-tonne Nuri liquid-fueled rocket lifted off the Naro Space Center in Goheung. The Ministry of Science reported that the rocket successfully launched several satellites and four CubeSat spacecraft into the Earth’s orbit.

"A path to the universe from our homeland has now opened,” South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said, vowing his administration’s full support for future space development programs by establishing a new government institution.

The government plans to improve technical reliability and stability through four additional launches by 2027.
