Situation on Kyrgyz-Tajik border is relatively stable

Situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as relatively stable. The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The night passed quietly, no accidents or incidents were registered.

In order to prevent incidents on other sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, a meeting of border representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan was held in Tort-Kocho area of ​Batken region on June 14 from 7.30 p.m. to 8.35 p.m.

The heads of the border outposts of the parties were tasked with preventing escalation of the situation and resolving the situation in the areas of their responsibility.

Another meeting of border representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan took place later. As a result of the negotiations, the following decisions were made:

  • Exercise control over the implementation of decisions taken during the meeting between border representatives (heads of detachments) and heads of outposts of the parties in areas of responsibility;
  • Instruct the deputies of the border representatives of the parties to control the activities of the border posts in Bulak-Bashy area.

Taking into account all the circumstances, the parties decided not to allow agricultural work near the state border line.

A shot was fired for unknown reasons from Tajikistan today at about 7 a.m. In response, the Kyrgyz side also fired one shot into the air. The shooting ended after negotiations. However, it resumed at 7.50 a.m. According to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Tajik side resumed shooting at 7.50 a.m., using grenade launchers and mortars. It stopped at 8.10 a.m.
