The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan asks to suspend the procedure for ratification of an agreement with the Asian Development Bank, according to which the Cabinet of Ministers intended to purchase another 1.7 million doses of coronavirus vaccines. Deputy Vinera Raimbachaeva announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.
According to her, the decision was made by the Ministry of Health in connection with a sufficient number of doses of the vaccine to meet the needs of the country.
«To date, there are 2,430,605 doses of vaccines left, which will be used for repeat and booster vaccination of the population,» Vinera Raimbachaeva said.
Acting Minister of Health Zharkynbek Kasymbekov said that 6,168,200 doses have been received since the beginning of 2021 in the form of humanitarian aid and purchased at the expense of the state budget. Of these, 3,737,595 doses were used.
«The rest we have to use before the end of the year. About 200,000 doses will be discarded because they are expiring. Given the epidemiological situation, we ask to suspend ratification of the agreement,» he said.
Earlier, the agreement was rejected by the Committee on Budget, Economic and Fiscal Policy.
