«We will not pat on the head those who want to stage riots. Punishment will be tough,» President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said in an interview with the Kyrgyz service of BBC.
He appealed to Almazbek Atambayev’s supporters and responded to their accusations of confiscation of the former president’s private residence.
The head of state noted that Atambayev’s house was confiscated before his (Sadyr Japarov’s) presidency.
«Atambayev’s house was confiscated by a court decision under Sooronbai Jeenbekov, Kurmanbek Bakiyev’s house was confiscated under Atambayev. The objects have been unattended since then. These houses belong to the state now. So that they do not stand idle forever, we decided to start construction work and do a good deed for the elderly and children,» he said.
Sadyr Japarov also noted that supporters of the convicted former president make threatening statements.
«I want to respond to those supporters of Almazbek Atambayev, who make threats. I am not a person who is afraid. I had a feeling of fear long ago,» Sadyr Japarov is quoted by the media as saying.
If I, like Almazbek Atambayev, stole and became a multi-billionaire for two years of my presidency, then they could threaten me.

«I have no deeds for which I should be afraid. We will not pat on the head those, who want to stage riots. The punishment will be harsh. I didn’t create clans. Those who do not work for the sake of the state, they leave their posts. Those who steal are put behind bars and released, returning a hundredfold amount of what they stole. I will not allow clan rule and theft of state property. I have enough strength and will to do this,» the President concluded.
Earlier, the chairman of the Social Democrats party, Temirlan Sultanbekov, said that an educational and recreational sports complex for children would be opened in the private residence of Almazbek Atambayev. After this statement, representatives of the State Property Management Fund arrived at the residence and asked to vacate all the premises within three days.
The State Property Management Fund states that the private residence of Almazbek Atambayev is on its balance sheet. It has been confiscated. It is noted that the State Property Management Fund and the Ministry of Labor have developed a draft order of the Cabinet. Proceeding from it, it is proposed to open a social stationary institution for the elderly on the basis of the health complex.
