A new name has been developed for the McDonald’s restaurant chain in Russia. Two Latin letters will be used as the signboard — Mc, while the «M» may remain the brand name. Izvestia reports citing a source in the restaurant market.
According to the source, the parent company was involved in the development of the project.
The source added that the menu at the restaurants will not change conceptually: the names of dishes may be as close as possible to the classic menu of McDonald’s.
He stressed that, judging by the deal, the American company has an option — in a few years, it may buy its assets back. «About 600 McDonald’s restaurants have been taken over by a franchisee partner of the chain, which previously operated 25 establishments. Apparently, the company is interested in returning to the Russian Federation,» the source noted.
The name «Mc» is not even considered, McDonald’s CEO in Russia Oleg Paroev said in turn.
McDonald’s announced suspension of work in the Russian Federation on March 14 against the background of a special military operation in Ukraine. The decision was explained by «operational, technical and logistical difficulties.»
