Case against Bolot Temirov: Date of preliminary hearing announced

A preliminary hearing of the case against journalist Bolot Temirov will take place on May 18. The Bishkek City Court informed 24.kg news agency.

According to it, the hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Sverdlovsky District Court of the capital. The composition of the judges and other details will be known later. Materials of the case were submitted to the court on April 29.

Four criminal cases were opened against the journalist. Bolot Temirov connects this with the latest investigation, saying that the company of the son of the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev, Taimuras, won several tenders in Jalal-Abad, as well as with the material about fuel business of the family of the head of security services.

The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek stated that new criminal facts imputed to the accused appeared during the investigation of the circumstances of the case. Based on the results of the established facts, in order to give an objective legal assessment, criminal cases were initiated under Articles 379 «Forgery of documents» and 378 «Illegal crossing of the state border of the Kyrgyz Republic» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In January, Bolot Temirov was also charged with a drug-related crime. Then, police officers accompanied by security forces soldiers came to the office of Temirov Live in the capital. Bolot Temirov was detained and taken to the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek. Bolot Temirov’s colleague, Bolot Nazarov, was detained together with him. Both were released under written undertaking not to leave the city.
