Human rights activists tell Sadyr Japarov about torture and suicides

Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova, coordinator of Kylym Shamy human rights movement, told on Facebook about the meeting of civil activists with the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.

According to her, she pointed to the continuation of such a negative phenomenon as torture and told about the conditions of detention in closed institutions. «I also raised the issue of investigating suicides and injuries in the army as a result of hazing, issues of providing conscripts of the Ministry of Emergencies and the escort department, equating their allowances (food) with the norms of border guards. I also spoke about ensuring the right to freedom of peaceful assembly as a tool to reduce potential conflict, using the results of monitoring peaceful assemblies to assess the situation. I noted the closeness of certain state bodies — the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Committee for National Security and the Ministry of Defense,» Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova said.

The human rights activist stressed that the president gave feedback on what had already been done and would be done, took notes, gave instructions, contacted the relevant officials in all the areas mentioned above. «I saw in reality how the president can work, and I hope that his team will not let down and there will be effective results,» Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova added.

Nurbek Toktakunov, Dinara Oshurakhunova and Erkina Ubysheva also met with the President.
