47 multilevel car parking systems planned to be built in Bishkek

It is planned to build 47 multilevel car parking systems in Bishkek. Mayor of the capital Emilbek Abdykadyrov told at a briefing.

He noted that the city needs to change its approach to the organization of parking lots. «We have widened the road. But cars are parked on its sides, and the road is still narrow. This is not a solution to the problem. We’ve seen that,» the mayor said.

We plan to build 47 multilevel parking systems and parking lots: four floors — underground and five or six above the ground.

Emilbek Abdykadyrov added that such facilities may appear, in particular, in the city center in place of gas stations, which were built with violations. «I talked to the heads of the companies, said that we would remove these gas stations, since they do not meet the standards. The companies were offered to build multilevel parking lots on these sites. They are studying the issue. We want to build them at the expense of the city budget,» he said.

At the same time, according to the mayor, the City Hall also plans to rent the existing parking lots along the roads.

«In 2021, the budget received only 12.5 million soms from the parking lots. This is very little. Now, on a competitive basis, we plan to rent them, we are working out the terms. Our task is to replenish the budget and bring order to the roads,» he added.
