Sanctions against Russia affect Kyrgyzstan as well - Russian Ambassador

The Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan are doing everything necessary to develop integration processes, including within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Kyrgyzstan Nikolai Udovichenko said at a conference «Russian Compatriots in Kyrgyzstan: New Realities of the Russian World» in Bishkek.

According to him, all measures are being taken to accelerate integration within the EAEU and CSTO.

Nikolai Udovichenko also noted that the sanctions imposed against Russia by a number of states have a negative impact on Kyrgyzstan.

«There is continued pressure on Russia’s allies as well,» he added, and admitted that after the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by some states, the Kyrgyz Republic has a «more favorable situation» now.

Nikolai Udovichenko also emphasized that Moscow and Bishkek have strong allied relations.

Participants of the conference of Russian compatriots discussed the upcoming celebration of the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, promotion of the Russian language in the Kyrgyz Republic, legal security and activities related to the announcement of Karakol as the cultural capital of the CIS this year.

According to the latest data, about 300,000-350,000 Russians live in Kyrgyzstan today.
