President Sadyr Japarov counts on business of Azerbaijan

The President of Kyrgyzstan met with business representatives in Baku as part of his official visit to Azerbaijan.

Sadyr Japarov noted that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to bilateral cooperation between the two countries and considers Azerbaijan as one of the most promising partners in the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation.

«Your presence here today is also very significant for us and demonstrates the mutual interest in promoting joint projects in priority sectors of the economy, including energy, mining, agriculture, subsoil use, industrial production and tourism,» he said.

The head of state noted the past thorough negotiations with the leader of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during which the invariance of the course towards the activation and expansion of friendly and fraternal relations was confirmed.

«We also signed an agreement on air traffic between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, which should contribute to the development of tourism and increase business contacts between the countries,» he noted and expressed confidence that the establishment of strategic partnership at the bilateral level would generally provide great and favorable opportunities for Azerbaijani business for the implementation of investment projects in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Sadyr Japarov noted the importance of expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation both within the framework of interstate relations and between business circles. «Unfortunately, the current trade and economic cooperation between our states does not meet the current realities and the existing potential, which has great prospects. Given the new level of partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, it is more important for us than ever to give a new impetus to the expansion of comprehensive and complete trade and economic cooperation, production and investment cooperation,» he stressed.

The President said that there is an understanding of the need for the practical implementation of large investment projects, which, in turn, will contribute to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the diversification of ties, creation of new production capacities, and the increase in the number of added chains of the production and service cycle.

Sadyr Japarov added that Kyrgyzstan pays close attention to creating favorable conditions for work and protecting investors. He recalled that one of his first decrees as president was aimed at creating a favorable business environment, free movement of capital, and protecting the interests of foreign investors.

Business representatives were told about the adoption in the Kyrgyz Republic of a new version of the Tax Code, which provides for a significant simplification of tax procedures, switch to remote inspections instead of on-site scheduled inspections and mechanisms for pre-trial settlement of tax disputes.

The head of state also mentioned introduction of a service model of the tax service and a number of mechanisms to support small and medium-sized businesses, the work of the Business Ombudsman institution, transformation of the National Investment Agency for conducting high-quality work with every foreign businessman and assistance to external investors.
