Russia and Kyrgyzstan discuss idea of creation of biolab

At the 23rd meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation the Ministries of Health of Kyrgyzstan and Russia have agreed to develop cooperation in the field of health care. Press center of the Ministry of Health reported.

According to its information, the meeting was held on April 14 in Moscow under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Arzybek Kozhoshev and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksey Overchuk with participation of representatives of interested ministries and agencies.

The parties exchanged views on the establishment of a biological laboratory BSL3 in the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyz Republic was against the implementation of this project.

In addition, the participants discussed holding of joint consultations of specialists of compulsory health insurance funds on the organization of medical care for non-working family members of migrant workers at the expense of compulsory health insurance funds, as well as vaccination.

The parties also decided to continue to build up interaction on the issues of joint research, prevention and response to infectious diseases in the framework of Russian initiatives to promote international development.

In 2010, Canadian investors intended to build a biological laboratory on the territory of Botanical Garden in Bishkek, but a number of NGOs and citizens opposed the initiative. As a result, the Canadian investors abandoned the idea.
