Since the beginning of April, prices for vegetable oil have increased by 5.5 percent, or by 8.7 soms. The Antimonopoly Regulation Service reports.
According to it, the average price of oil in March was 157.6 soms. As of April 12, it reached 166.3 soms.
The Antimonopoly Regulation Service notes that the reasons for the increase in the cost are fluctuations of the foreign exchange rate, import dependence of Kyrgyzstan on commodity-producing countries — Russia and Kazakhstan. In addition, an increase in wholesale prices by manufacturers of the supplying countries, restriction of export deliveries of goods from the supplying countries, both finished products and raw materials, as well as an increase in the cost of logistics, also had their impact.
«There is no shortage of vegetable oil, there are sufficient stocks. Proposals to stabilize the situation on the vegetable oil market have been submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce,» the state agency said.
