International reserves of Kyrgyzstan decrease by $54.13 million for month

As a result of March 2022, the gross international reserves of Kyrgyzstan reached $2,761.94 billion. Website of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic says.

Over the past month, the gross international reserves decreased by $54.13 million. Compared to March last year, they increased by $89.16 million. At the same time, the highest level of the reserves was registered in September 2021 — $3,241.14 billion.

The National Bank uses the reserves to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. Last year, it conducted 15 interventions, having sold $698,95 million. From the beginning of 2022 to April 5, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted five interventions to sell the foreign currency in the amount of $284.3 million and two interventions to buy $19.9 million U.S. dollars. As a result, net sales amounted to $264.4 million.
