In connection with the hype that has arisen around certain food products, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan will allocate one million kilograms of sugar and 500,000 liters of vegetable oil from the State Material Reserves Fund. The head of the ministry Boobek Azhikeev told at a press conference.
According to him, the cost of sugar per kilogram reached 100 soms.
«According to the latest data, sugar costs 100 soms per kilogram, a bag of sugar — up to a thousand soms. In connection with a sharp increase in prices for this product, the President Sadyr Japarov instructed to allocate one million kilograms of sugar for sale at 70 soms per kilogram. We will also allocate 500,000 liters of vegetable oil. Price of oil is also rising. We will sell it for 130 soms per liter,» the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
Boobek Azhikeev believes that there is no reason to panic.
«The State Material Reserves Fund is full as never before. Food security is under the control of the Cabinet of Ministers and the head of state. The borders are open. There should be no reasons for concern among the population in connection with the possible lack of essential products,» the official added.
