Situation at border: Additional Red Crescent teams leave for Batken

Additional Red Crescent disaster response teams from Osh and Jalal-Abad have left for Batken. The international organization reported.

According to it, the teams provide additional assistance in distributing hot meals and warm clothes. On-site psychosocial support will also be provided to the evacuees.

Yesterday, the Batken disaster response team provided primary assistance to the evacuees at the Lenin school and school No. 3 in the form of bread, food, water, blankets, and diapers for children. Local authorities were provided with fuel and lubricants to assist in the evacuation.

The day before, at 6.15 p.m., the border guards of Tajikistan blocked a section of Batken — Isfana road in Tort-Kocho area of ​ Batken region. The border units of Kyrgyzstan, deployed on this section of the border in Batken region, switched to an enhanced mode of service. The both sides exchanged fire. The Tajik military used mortars and grenade launchers.

At night, the parties agreed on a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of additional forces and equipment from the border, opening of Batken — Isfana road for traffic and joint patrolling of border areas in order to prevent conflicts.
