MES: 1,470 people evacuated from border districts, including 147 children

As many as 1,470 people were evacuated from the border districts of Batken region, 147 of them are children. Press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan informed 24.kg news agency.

«At the moment, 1,470 locals are evacuated, 1,200 of them have been accommodated in the houses of their friends and relatives. Some Batken residents have been evacuated to Margun, Ravat villages and the regional center. A total of 270 people are in temporary accommodation centers, 104 of them are women, 19 men and 147 children. They are provided with all the basic necessities. Medical workers are constantly monitoring the temporary accommodation centers. The Batken Regional Hospital is working around the clock and has all the necessary specialists and medicines», the ministry informed.

Subdivisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Osh and Jalal-Abad regions are on alert, and all work is being carried out in the emergency mode. Strategic facilities in the region have been provided with autonomous power sources.

«There are enough tents, hot meals and drinking water, medical aid and transport for evacuation. 104 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are involved. In addition, fuel and lubricants were allocated, there is necessary reserve of bedding sets, food and drinking water,» the press service of the ministry reported.

The day before, at 6.15 p.m., the border guards of Tajikistan blocked a section of Batken — Isfana road in Tort-Kocho area of ​ Batken region. The border units of Kyrgyzstan, deployed on this section of the border in Batken region, switched to an enhanced mode of service. The both sides exchanged fire. The Tajik military used mortars and grenade launchers.

At night, the parties agreed on a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of additional forces and equipment from the border, opening of Batken — Isfana road for traffic and joint patrolling of border areas in order to prevent conflicts.
