COVID-19: Sadyr Japarov hopes situation will improve in 2022

«We already receive signals about possible termination or restriction of communication between some countries,» the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at a regular meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

According to him, through the joint efforts of the EAEU states, the pace of vaccination against coronavirus is increasing, and comprehensive measures are being taken to combat this ailment.

The head of state expressed hope that next year the countries will be able to improve the epidemiological situation and more often hold face-to-face meetings.

«Meanwhile, emerging strains of coronavirus, such as Omicron, could lead to new threats and challenges, including the risk of return to the last year’s scenario. This, of course, cannot but worry us. We receive signals about possible termination or restriction of communication between some states. In the future, this can again lead to a negative state of affairs both for the people and for the economies of our countries,» Sadyr Japarov said.

According to him, the EAEU has experience in joint response and implementation of measures to counter sanitary and epidemiological threats.
