Regional leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir detained in Osh city

Leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir religious extremist organization for the southern region was detained in Osh city. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Activities of the foreign citizen — the leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir for the southern region, who organized a clandestine extremist network, was suppressed.

The state committee added that the detainee is wanted by the law enforcement agencies of Uzbekistan, as he is responsible for the activities of the religious extremist organization in the neighboring country, and he was actively engaged, together with like-minded people, in underground activities for creation and strengthening of Hizb ut-Tahrir structures in the southern regions.

«It has been found out that the man, using a forged identity document, was hiding on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. On the basis of the collected evidence base, the detainee was placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security,» the state committee noted.
