The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan uncovered involvement of the former head of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev in the illegal release of the kingpin Aziz Batukaev. Press service of the ministry reported.
It is specified that during an investigation of the criminal case, Almazbek Atambayev’s direct involvement in the illegal release of Aziz Batukaev was found out.
«According to the materials of the criminal case, Batukaev was released following the direct instructions of Atambayev; illegal release of the crime boss was organized by making a false diagnosis of a serious illness,» the Interior Ministry said.
At the same time, the ministry recalls that representatives of the former president have been handed three summons to the investigative service for interrogation on the illegal release of the kingpin Aziz Batukaev from the places of imprisonment. However, he did not come without a clear reason.
Security forces tried to conduct a special operation to detain Almazbek Atambayev in Koi-Tash, but it failed. As a result of the clashes, dozens of people were injured. A 22-year-old special forces soldier died from a gunshot wound. The head of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Chui Region Samat Kurmankulov is in an extremely grave condition in the hospital; he was trepanized.
